Swaledale MRT

Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team covers an operational area that hosts two popular long distance walking routes at its centre – the Pennine Way and Wainwright’s ‘Coast to Coast’ walk – with nine tops over 600 metres, and is a regular location for mine and cave explorers and mountain bikers. Incidents occur both above and below ground so Swaledale is one of a handful of teams in England and Wales with both mountain and cave rescue capability.
